Radiesse is a sterile injectable implant based on calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) manufactured by Merz Aesthetics. It is a biostimulatory filler: it not only restores volume immediately but also triggers the production of the skin’s own collagen, providing long-lasting results.
The formula consists of synthetic calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres (particle size 25–45 microns, approximately 30% of the formulation) suspended in an aqueous gel carrier (approximately 70%) based on glycerin and sodium carboxymethylcellulose. After injection, the gel carrier is gradually resorbed and replaced by soft tissue growth, while the CaHA particles form a scaffold that stimulates neocollagenesis. Calcium hydroxylapatite is biocompatible and biodegradable — an inorganic component naturally present in human bone.
Indications: correction of moderate to deep wrinkles and folds (including nasolabial folds), restoration and contouring of facial volume (cheeks, temples, jawline/chin), and correction of volume loss on the dorsum of the hands. Recommended injection depth — deep dermis or subdermal.
Results are visible immediately after the procedure and last on average 12–18 months, depending on the area, volume and individual patient factors. Important: as a CaHA-based filler, Radiesse — unlike hyaluronic acid fillers — is not reversible with hyaluronidase. The product is intended exclusively for injection by a qualified healthcare professional.
